PRINTER-FRIENDLY

E-Discovery

IDENTIFY
The first phase of electronic discovery is the identification of likely sources of discoverable and relevant information. “Relevance” is not only key to your discovery efforts, but also critical to your economic access to important digital information. Kryptos Forensics works with you to help narrow your scope of electronic discovery to help keep costs down and to help you locate the most relevant information.

ACQUIRE
Once the relevant data sources have been identified, we safely gather your electronic evidence. We use industry standard tools and techniques to take forensic images of computer hard drives. Industry standard tools are important to enable you to survive court challenges to the scientific efficacy of those tools used in your discovery. We take care to avoid spoliation and to maintain a defensible chain-of-custody. Our written protocols and internal procedures ensure that our work product withstands court scrutiny.

SEARCH
Once the data has been gathered, it must be searched to see exactly what information is available and economically accessible. Unfortunately, today’s attorneys are often encouraged to collect and restore huge volumes of data as a precaution to ensure complete discovery. This unfettered approach greatly increases the cost of electronic discovery, adding thousands of dollars for processing and for attorney review time. Our forensics experts will group data into categories - easily accessible data, deleted or damaged data, and password protected data. This helps cut costs by first looking at data that is easily accessible and thus cheaper to retrieve. Kryptos Forensics helps our clients avoid unnecessary and costly restoration of data, while ensuring that potentially relevant data, including encrypted, compressed, and password-protected files, are addressed.

REVIEW
The filtered data can now be prepared for attorney review. We can provide copies of the data selected for review and offer recommendations for software for you or your client to view, sort, and organize your evidence. Our staff is also available to conduct such reviews under your direction. Kryptos Forensics can also collaborate with your current litigation support vendor to import data into your review-tool system of choice. In addition, we work with a variety of providers to offer you complete data conversion to TIFF or PDF formats.
